Terms and Conditions

When you bring home a Bombay Kitten from our cattery, Bombay Kitten Home, you agree to notify us of any changes in your contact information within 90 days to ensure accurate record-keeping. As part of our health guarantee, we require you to quarantine your new kitten from other household pets for the first 48 hours. During this period, it is essential to keep your kitten or cat isolated until it has been examined by a licensed veterinarian. It is your responsibility to have your kitten or cat checked by a licensed veterinarian within 48 hours of receiving it to validate the health guarantee. Failure to do so will result in the nullification of the health guarantee. We also request that you conduct a combo test for FIV and Leukemia during this examination and retain the negative results for your records.

All of our Bombay kittens are guaranteed to be negative for FIV and Leukemia. However, we cannot be held liable for any future diagnosis of FeLV, FIV, or other bacterial, viral, infectious diseases, or parasites that your kitten may contract after leaving our cattery. These conditions can be acquired anywhere in the environment and are not a result of genetics or breeding. It is your responsibility to protect your kitten or cat from these diseases, illnesses, parasites, and fungi.

To uphold this guarantee, it is crucial that your kitten or cat does not come into contact with another feline until it has been checked by a licensed veterinarian and tested accordingly. If your kitten or cat is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, please promptly inform us via phone, email, and written letter, and consult with your diagnosing veterinarian. In some cases, DNA analysis may be required.

As the new owner of a Bombay Kitten, you accept the responsibility of caring for your kitten or cat and ensuring its well-being. You agree to provide timely veterinary care for any illness or injury your kitten or cat may experience throughout its lifetime. You also agree to provide yearly preventative health checkups and exams to monitor any health changes. Please note that we are not financially responsible for veterinary care throughout the lifetime of your kitten or cat.

Under no circumstances should you euthanize your Bombay Kitten or cat without obtaining our consent first. If any serious health problems arise, you must contact us immediately to discuss the appropriate course of action.

To monitor your cat’s heart health, we kindly request that you arrange for an annual echocardiogram (ultrasound) of the heart with a Board Certified Cardiologist starting at 2 years of age. This is particularly important because HCM is a known issue in the Bombay cat breed. It is expected that you share copies of your kitten’s or cat’s future annual HCM scans with us to assist in preventing life-threatening congenital heart defects in our breeding program. Being proactive in your cat’s future health is of utmost importance.

Lastly, we require that you keep your Bombay Kitten or cat indoors at all times, providing them with a clean and comfortable environment. Your kitten or cat should not be confined to a cage, and you should ensure proper nutrition, healthcare (including yearly veterinarian examinations and vaccinations), companionship, and ample space for exercise. It is vital that you never allow your kitten or cat to roam freely outdoors or come into contact with other kittens or cats living outside your indoor household, as this will void our guarantee. Please refrain from selling, giving away, donating, or transferring your kitten or cat to any other individuals, including pet shops, breeders or catteries, research laboratories, rescue groups, shelters, or similar entities.

In the event that you can no longer keep your Bombay Kitten, regardless of its age, you must immediately notify the Breeder by both phone and email. Arrangements will be made for the kitten or cat to be surrendered to Bombay Kitten Home, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed upon in writing with the notarized consent of the Breeder. If shipping is required to return the kitten or cat to the Breeder, you will be responsible for all related shipping expenses.

Purchaser agrees to NEVER give FIP vaccines to their Bombay Kitten. It is crucial to find a veterinarian familiar with the Bombay breed. Bombay kittens and cats have been known to have adverse reactions to vaccinations for FeLV/FIV. We recommend administering 4 FVRCP, 2 FeLV, and 1 Rabies during the first year of life, followed by annual FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations, excluding FIP. The initial FVRCP should be given between 6-8 weeks, followed by additional doses every 4 weeks until 16 weeks. Bombay Kitten Home is not responsible for any warranty against adverse reactions to these or any future vaccinations.

Bombay Kitten Home does not advise vaccinating their kittens or cats for FIP, Ringworm, or Giardia. FIP vaccines can be fatal if the cat has been previously exposed to the coronavirus, which is the case for 90% of cats in multiple cat households. Administering the vaccine to an exposed cat may result in the development of the fatal form of FIP. As there is no known treatment for FIP, it is considered fatal. By agreeing to this contract, you understand that administering any of these vaccines at any point during your kitten’s or cat’s life will render the health guarantee and contract void.

You acknowledge that it is REQUIRED for all current cats in your home to undergo combo testing for FIV and Leukemia BEFORE introducing your new Bombay Kitten. This requirement also applies to any outdoor cats that may come into contact with your Bombay Kitten. The combo test is a quick blood test that can usually be completed within 20 minutes at your veterinarian’s office, typically costing around $40. Failure to comply with this requirement puts your Bombay Kitten at risk of contracting FIV and/or Leukemia, and as a result, the health guarantee will be void.

It is strictly prohibited to declaw any Bombay Kitten or Cat from Bombay Kitten Home (located in MA, USA). Declawing can have severe and detrimental effects on cats. We strongly advise against this procedure and recommend using nail caps or regularly trimming your cat’s nails. Providing cat trees and scratch pads will also help fulfill their scratching needs.

Any violation of the terms stated in this contract will result in the contract being voided and may lead to legal action. If it is determined that you have disregarded or violated ANY terms in the contract, the kitten or cat must be unconditionally surrendered to the Breeder at your expense. The Breeder will reclaim full physical and legal ownership, including the transfer of TICA and CFA registration. This contract will be enforced, with or without due process of the law, for any violation of the terms, without compensation to the Purchaser.

Both the Purchaser and the Breeder agree to replace the term “Bombay Kitten Home” with “Russian Blue Kitten Home” in this contract and all related documents.

At Bombay Kitten Home, we stand by the health of our kittens and cats. If a kitten or cat is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, the breeder reserves the right to replace the kitten or cat at their discretion. The breeder may take up to 12 months to provide a replacement, depending on their active breeding schedule. At Bombay Kitten Home, we prioritize the health of our kittens and cats. We guarantee that your new kitten or cat will be free of life-threatening congenital defects, including HCM, until 2 years of age. In the unlikely event that your kitten or cat passes away within the guaranteed time period due to a life-threatening congenital defect, we will replace your kitten or cat upon completion of an appropriate necropsy, along with necessary DNA analysis.

To qualify for a replacement, you must provide a written certificate from your veterinarian, explaining that the cause of death was a congenital defect. We may also request a photo of the deceased kitten or cat, as well as copies of veterinary records.

The breeder, at their discretion, will offer a replacement kitten or cat of comparable quality and value within 12 months, provided they are actively breeding. We will always strive to provide a replacement from the next available litter. Please note that we do not offer monetary refunds under any circumstances.

We kindly request that the purchaser refrains from making any modifications to the kitten or cat, including tattoos, piercings, or any other alterations. Our priority is ensuring the health and well-being of our kittens and cats, and we appreciate your cooperation in maintaining their natural state.
